What is GIS?
GIS is a collection of computer hardware, software, and geographic data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information. Geographically referenced information is derived from datasets that contain a position or a piece of information that tells us where on the Earth that information occurs.

Who is GIS?
The DCPD houses the County's GIS. There are two full time staff in the DCPD that are dedicated to GIS. In addition to serving the needs of the County and its communities, the DCPD GIS serves many County departments including Watershed Affairs, Economic Development and Emergency Services. It also depends on GIS data maintenenace from the Real Property Tax Service Agency, E911 and various state agencies.
